The Somali National Army said Wednesday that more than 60 militants belonging to "Al-Shabaab terrorist group" were killed in a joint operation "with local residents" in El-Dhun Adegow area, Bay region.
The operation, which targeted and bombed the militants, is part of recent efforts to combat terrorism in Southwest Somalia, the Somali National News Agency (SONNA) reported, citing sources of the Information Ministry in the southwest state.
The successful operation is part of a chain of operations aimed at rooting out Al-Shabaab militants and restoring peace and security to the region, according to the report.
