Police Investigate Apparent Suicide of Detainee in Irbid Police Station

Irbid: A detainee was found deceased in a police station in Irbid Governorate after apparently hanging himself in a cell toilet using his clothing, authorities reported. According to Jordan News Agency, the spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) stated that the detainee had been involved in an investigative case and was discovered by two other detainees who shared his cell. They immediately reported the incident. The spokesperson further noted that the deceased's brother had visited him approximately an hour before the tragic event. The detainee was urgently transported to a nearby hospital where attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. Following the confirmation of his death, his body was moved to forensic medicine for further examination. The PSD has launched a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
