Powering the Future Forum in Dammam Focuses on Energy Transition and Net Zero


Dammam: The “Powering the Future Toward Net Zero” international forum commenced in Saudi Arabia, aiming to bolster energy transition efforts. The event, held in Dammam, saw participation from key figures in the energy sector, emphasizing the urgent need for clean energy solutions to address global environmental and economic challenges.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the forum was inaugurated by Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, who highlighted the importance of achieving zero neutrality. He called for collaborative efforts to modernize electricity systems and invest in renewable energy sources. Prince Saud noted the strategies developed by GCC countries to support sustainable energy and reduce carbon emissions, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s commitment through initiatives like the “Saudi Green Initiative,” which aims to plant 10 billion trees and achieve zero neutrality by 2060.

The two-day forum is organized by the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCI
A) in partnership with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), GO15, and Med-TSO. The event is a significant step towards promoting energy transition, carbon neutrality, and sustainable energy practices, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s broader goals of net zero emissions and green transformation.
