Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, met with House Speaker Nabih Berri at Baabda Palace to discuss the situation in South Lebanon, especially in light of the ongoing Israeli attacks on villages and towns, which have extended into the Bekaa region.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the discussions focused on meetings addressing the Israeli escalation and strategies to assist residents of affected border villages in returning to their homes and obtaining necessary support. Upon leaving, Speaker Berri expressed satisfaction with his discussions with President Aoun.
In a separate meeting, President Aoun welcomed a delegation from the "Gathering of the Sons of Southern Border Towns and Villages," led by Coordinator Tarek Mazraani. The conversation centered on the current challenges in South Lebanon, with President Aoun reiterating his commitment to monitoring the situation and ensuring the return and safety of residents.
President Aoun emphasized the Lebanese state's dedication to ending Israeli attacks and securing the release of prisoners. He highlighted ongoing international efforts to halt the aggression and coordinated plans with the Lebanese army to strengthen its presence in border areas. The President assured the delegation of continuous governmental support, including discussions with the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance regarding compensation and reconstruction aid.
Additionally, President Aoun met with French Ambassador Herv© Magro to discuss the upcoming conference in Paris, aimed at supporting the Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces. The discussions also covered local and regional developments.
