Beirut: The meeting which was held on Thursday at Baabda Palace between President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, and Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam, touched on the issue of administrative appointments, especially those related to the regulatory bodies. The meeting also addressed the situation in south Lebanon, UNIFIL mandate extension, and the activation of public administrations' work. It was agreed to issue a decree to open an extraordinary session of the Parliament.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the discussions between President Aoun and Premier Salam emphasized the importance of filling key positions in regulatory bodies to ensure effective governance. The leaders acknowledged the need to streamline administrative functions and enhance the efficiency of public administrations.
The security situation in south Lebanon was another focal point of the meeting, with an emphasis on maintaining stability in the region. Discussions included the role of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the necessity of extending its mandate to support peacekeeping efforts.
The decision to open an extraordinary session of the Parliament aims to expedite legislative processes and address pressing national issues. This move is expected to facilitate the implementation of necessary reforms and appointments within the governmental framework.
