Yarze: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, has emphasized the exclusive dedication of the Lebanese Army to the nation, stating that campaigns directed against the army and its leadership will be futile. Aoun's remarks came during his visit to the Ministry of Defense and the Lebanese Army Command in Yarze, where he met with Defense Minister Michel Menassa to discuss the country's general situation and the latest security developments.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, during the visit, President Aoun, accompanied by Menassa, was received at the Army Command by Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal, along with Chief of Staff Major General Hassan Audi, Director of Intelligence Brigadier General Antoine Kahwaji, and Commander's Office Director Brigadier General Mansour Zoghbi. Aoun was briefed on the national security situation and the conditions of soldiers stationed in the south, particularly those displaced by Israeli attacks.
During a meeting with top military officials, including the Military Council, Aoun expressed solidarity with the army, rejecting campaigns that question its patriotism. He warned against involving the army in political disputes, emphasizing that the strength of the state is rooted in the strength of its institutions, with the army being paramount. Aoun criticized the accusations against the army as baseless and urged military personnel to focus on their achievements.
Recalling the events of 1975, Aoun highlighted the army's historical role and warned against current attempts to undermine it. He stressed that any efforts to destabilize the army would fail, leaving critics with "empty baskets." Aoun called for continued support for the army, underscoring its role in safeguarding Lebanon's unity and stability.
The President reiterated that the army operates under the constitution and political authority's decisions, urging soldiers to remain focused on their duties. Aoun assured them of the political leadership's unwavering support and the trust of the Lebanese people.
Defense Minister Menassa and General Haykal expressed gratitude for the President's visit, reaffirming the army's commitment to serving Lebanon and its people and acting as a bulwark against internal strife.
