President Joseph Aoun Arrives in Algeria for Official Visit at President Tebboune’s Invitation

Algiers: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, accompanied by Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi and Information Minister Attorney Paul Morcos, arrived at the Algiers Houari Boumediene Airport at 4:00 pm, Beirut local time, marking the commencement of a two-day official visit to Algeria. This visit comes at the invitation of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun was received at the airport by President Tebboune with an official reception that included the playing of the Lebanese and Algerian national anthems and a 21-gun salute. The Algerian President greeted members of the Lebanese delegation, which included Ministers Raggi and Morcos, alongside advisors and Lebanon's Ambassador to Algeria, Mohammed Hassan.

President Aoun reciprocated by greeting the Algerian delegation comprising various ministers and advisors, including Ahmed Attaf, Mohamed Arkab, and Mohamed Meziane, among others. In a speech delivered at the airport, President Aoun highlighted the strong fraternal ties between Lebanon and Algeria and emphasized the significance of bolstering cooperation in various fields.

President Aoun expressed gratitude for Algeria's longstanding support towards Lebanon, mentioning Algeria's assistance during difficult times, its supportive stance in the UN Security Council, and its aid following the Beirut port explosion in 2020. The President noted the shared history and values between the two nations as a foundation for enhancing bilateral relations.

During the visit, discussions with the Algerian leadership are expected to focus on developing economic, trade, cultural, and media cooperation, as well as exchanges in education, health, and technology. President Aoun also emphasized the importance of addressing common Arab causes and regional challenges through joint Arab initiatives.

President Aoun concluded by expressing optimism about the meetings with President Tebboune and other Algerian officials, with hopes of opening new avenues for cooperation and furthering the interests of both nations.
