Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, expressed strong condemnation of the terrorist attack that targeted a mosque in Syria’s Homs during Friday prayers.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, President Aoun reiterated that “the dignity of free societies, and the lasting stability of nations striving for the prosperity of their peoples and their sustainable well-being can only be achieved by guaranteeing the fundamental freedoms for every human being, both individual and collective.”
Aoun added that “hate speech and the phenomena of accusing others as infidels and excluding them from national and public life pose the most serious challenge for any society emerging from intertwined wars with accumulated causes and factors.”
Addressing Syria’s President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Syrian government, as well as the Syrian people, especially the victims of the crime, their families and spiritual leaders, President Aoun extended his sincerest condolences and deepest feelings of solidarity. Aoun renewed his “support for Syria in its war against terrorism and in its endeavor to build a state of freedom, democracy, modernity and tolerance, which constitutes a guarantee for a unified Syria, and a national and strategic interest for Lebanon.”
