President Joseph Aoun Praises Opening of Sts Peter and Paul Monastery to Displaced People

Jezzine: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, made a phone call to Father Boutros Akoury, the head of the Sts Peter and Paul Monastery in the town of Qattin, Jezzine district, praising the "humanitarian and national initiative" he undertook by opening the monastery's doors to receive and shelter displaced people from the south belonging to various sects.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun hailed "this noble initiative, which reflects the depth of faith and a living humanitarian and national commitment that transcends barriers and divisions, and places human dignity above all else." Aoun also commended the "spirit of solidarity and mutual support embodied by Father Akoury," which in times of hardship affirms the true and genuine national unity that brings the Lebanese together around one homeland and one shared destiny.

The President of the Republic also considered that such initiatives "constitute a fundamental pillar in strengthening the resilience of the Lebanese people and their solidarity in confronting difficult circumstances."

While expressing his deep appreciation for this blessed initiative, President Aoun voiced his hope that "Jezzine and its residents will continue to serve as a model of humanitarian and national solidarity." He stressed that "the wounded South today needs, more than ever, courageous initiatives like this one-initiatives that remind us of the essence of the Lebanese message, founded on love, unity, and reconciliation."
