Beirut: Former President Michel Sleiman emphasized the enduring presence of pain amidst the euphoria of victory celebrations in a recent statement. "No matter how loud the victory chants, triumphant celebrations, and songs, the cries of pain remain the most sincere and powerful," Sleiman remarked, underscoring the depth of suffering that often accompanies conflicts.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Sleiman further elaborated on the concept of victory, suggesting that true triumph lies not with the warring factions, but with the third party that intervened to halt hostilities and propose peace. He remarked, "There is no victor among the warring parties; rather, victory is on the side of the third party, which stopped the war and proposed peace. There is no victor in wars; rather, there is one party that suffered the greatest loss."
Sleiman also conveyed his belief that genuine victory does not require proclamation, as it naturally reveals itself to all, projecting a more authentic reality than that perceived by the combatants. His statement serves as a poignant reminder of the profound losses that accompany war, regardless of the perceived outcome.
