Kfar Kila: Head of the Press Editors Syndicate, Joseph al-Qousseifi, reached out to Syndicate member Joel Maroun, a correspondent for Russia Today TV, to inquire about her condition following a harrowing encounter with Israeli sniper fire. Maroun was targeted three times by enemy snipers while covering the return of the residents of southern Kfar Kila to their town. The Lebanese army eventually intervened and facilitated her withdrawal from the dangerous site.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, al-Qousseifi condemned the "deliberate attack by the enemy army against journalists and media professionals with predetermination," highlighting the ongoing risk faced by journalists in the region. He mentioned that similar attacks over the past months have resulted in over twelve journalists losing their lives and more than twenty suffering injuries, including both permanent and temporary disabilities.
Al-Qousseifi commended the dedication and professionalism of journalists, photographers, and technical crews who continue to report on the return of southerners to their towns and cities, many of which were occupied and destroyed in recent Israeli aggression. He emphasized the importance of respecting international laws and resolutions, urging Israel to adhere to the timeline specified in the United Nations ceasefire resolution for the withdrawal of its forces.
