Beirut: Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Minister, Youssef Rajji, on Monday, received a phone call from his German counterpart, Johann Wadephul, during which they discussed the rapidly evolving situation in Lebanon amid anticipated negotiations with Israel in Washington.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the German Foreign Minister expressed his country's support for the Lebanese government's efforts to assert its sovereignty and achieve stability, noting that Germany is working towards securing a ceasefire. He also informed Rajji of a £45 million humanitarian aid package for the Lebanese people.
In turn, Rajji expressed appreciation for Germany's humanitarian and political support. He emphasized that Lebanon is seeking, through direct negotiations with Israel, to reach a ceasefire, emphasizing that this process effectively separates the Lebanese from the Iranian track.
Minister Rajji affirmed that the Lebanese state alone holds the authority to negotiate on behalf of Lebanon, in a clear message reinforcing the principle of national sovereignty at the core of Lebanese diplomacy.
