Moscow: The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli decision to reoccupy the Gaza Strip and warned of its repercussions.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the ministry explained in a statement that "implementing such decisions and plans, which provoke condemnation and rejection, will exacerbate the already dramatic situation on the Palestinian side, which now bears all the hallmarks of a humanitarian catastrophe. This significantly exacerbates international efforts to de-escalate the conflict zone, potentially leading to serious negative consequences for the entire Middle East region."
Russia affirmed its firm position on "the need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of all hostages and detainees, and the restoration of unhindered humanitarian access."
It stressed that "Moscow is firmly convinced that there is no alternative to settling the Palestinian issue on the basis of the recognized rules of international law, at the core of which is the principle of the two-state solution, which stipulates the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting in peace and security alongside Israel."
