Salam and Hassan Call for International Action to Halt Gaza Conflict

Baghdad: Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met with his Jordanian counterpart, Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, on the sidelines of the 34th Arab Summit in Baghdad. Their discussions centered on regional developments and enhancing bilateral relations between Lebanon and Jordan.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the two leaders praised Saudi Arabia's diplomatic efforts that led to lifting sanctions on Syria, opening doors for renewed Arab engagement. They jointly urged the international community to take action to end the war in Gaza and prevent the displacement of Palestinians, while reaffirming their commitment to the Arab Peace Initiative and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Prime Minister Salam reiterated Lebanon's support for Jordan in facing its challenges, underlining the importance of maintaining security and stability and opposing any interference in Jordan's internal affairs. Prime Minister Hassan, in turn, emphasized Jordan's dedication to Lebanon's safety and territorial integrity, expressing his commitment to Lebanon's resilience amidst challenges.

The meeting also underscored the significance of bolstering Lebanese-Jordanian relations across various sectors, with a particular focus on energy cooperation. Both leaders stressed the importance of collaboratively addressing the Syrian displacement crisis, ensuring the dignity of refugees and safeguarding the national interests of their respective countries.
