Beirut: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Monday convened a series of strategic meetings at the Grand Serail with notable delegations from Lebanon and international entities.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Salam's first meeting involved a delegation from the French Senate's international and Middle Eastern minority affairs group, led by ‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬°tienne Blanc. This discussion revolved around Lebanon's current challenges, the functioning of institutions, government reform initiatives, and regional developments impacting the nation.
Following this, Salam engaged with Sami Al-Hassan, head of the North Bar Association, along with former deans and council members. Their conversation focused on judicial independence, the conditions of courts and prisons, security issues in Tripoli and northern Lebanon, and critical infrastructure projects. These projects included the development of Tripoli Port, the Free Economic Zone, and the Ren© Moawad Airport, with positive feedback noted from Salam on resolving administrative and financial matters, particularly concerning union deposits in banks.
Salam also met with members of the Lebanese Private Sector Network. The delegation presented a study outlining the roles of oversight entities such as the Court of Audit, Central Inspection, and Public Procurement Authority, suggesting ways to enhance their efficiency. The Prime Minister was invited to sponsor a private sector event aimed at job creation, slated for May 29, 2025.
In another significant engagement, Salam welcomed a joint delegation from the Harvard Alumni Association and Harvard Business School Alumni, led by honorary president Dr. Habib Zoghbi. The discussions were centered on supporting Lebanon's recovery with a focus on oil, transport, and financial reform initiatives.
