Beirut: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Tuesday met with MP Ashraf Rifi and a delegation including Inas Harraq, coordinator of Gaddafi’s legal team, French lawyer Laurent Bayon, and attorney Charbel Khoury, to discuss the ongoing detention of Hannibal Gaddafi.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Rifi described the case as ‘a humanitarian issue that has persisted for over ten years without justice or trial,’ denouncing the ‘unjustified bail amount and the two-month travel ban’ attached to his release order.
Bayon thanked Salam for his support, noting the Prime Minister’s ‘deep understanding of international legal principles as a former ICJ president,’ and expressing hope for a swift application of justice.
Later, National Audiovisual Council President Abdel Hadi Mahfouz met Salam to discuss the media sector’s situation and the regulation of electronic media, praising the Prime Minister’s support for stricter oversight of media investment compliance.
