Beirut: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Tuesday chaired the daily ministerial meeting at the Grand Serail, focusing on military, security, and humanitarian developments, particularly the growing needs of displaced people.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Information Minister Paul Morcos stated that plans were discussed to expand shelter capacity. This includes the initiative to open additional schools as reception centers under the oversight of Education Minister Rima Karami. This move aims to address the urgent requirement for more accommodation facilities as the displacement situation escalates.
Defense Minister Michel Menassa reported concerning figures, with 1,247 fatalities and 3,680 injured resulting from Israeli attacks. In response, Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar outlined an increase in arrests and the intensification of security measures to maintain order and ensure safety.
The ministers also evaluated the current status of fuel distribution and anti-fraud initiatives to prevent exploitation during these challenging times. Information Minister Morcos also followed up with Prime Minister Salam on ongoing contacts aimed at safeguarding journalists, highlighting the government's commitment to press freedom amid the crisis.
