ABU DHABI: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), received at the Council's headquarters in Abu Dhabi, Maria Camilleri Calleja, Ambassador of Malta to the UAE. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation relations between the two countries in the parliamentary, cultural and educational fields. They underscored the importance of exchanging visits and experiences between the FNC and the Maltese House of Representatives, in a way that reflects the development of the UAE-Malta relations in light of the support of the leadership of the two countries. Ghobash stressed the importance of strengthening the role of bilateral parliamentary work, which contributes to supporting government cooperation, which is witnessing growing development, in addition to supporting the aspirations of the leadership and peoples of the two countries to develop their relations based on the foundations of friendship, mutual respect, and common interests. He pointed to the important role that Malta plays in the region and the necessity of cooperation in regional and international issues of common concern, including the situation in the eastern Mediterranean region. He further highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and exchanging experiences to include priority sectors within the future economic plans of the two countries, the most important of which are advanced technology and innovation, tourism and entrepreneurship. For her part, the Ambassador of Malta praised the role played by the FNC through effective parliamentary diplomacy and its distinguished participation in international parliamentary events, highlighting the depth of the distinguished cooperation relations between the two countries and the keenness to develop them in all fields, further highlighting the UAE's humanitarian efforts at various levels.
