The Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) has announced that legal action will be taken against Egyptian websites and social media pages that have published misleading or false news about the Taba incident. In a statement released on Friday 30/8/2024, the council said that those media outlets published reports based on biased Israeli sources without verifying the accuracy of the information or the intentions of the sources promoting it, which were later refuted by Egyptian authorities. SCMR stated that it is currently monitoring the reports to maintain professionalism and credibility. It urged all media outlets to avoid biased or unverified sources and rely on official statements for complete facts, emphasizing the importance of journalistic and media values and standards. SCMR also stressed the significance of relying on verified sources that prioritize accuracy and investigation to inform the public with complete facts. Source: State Information Service Egypt
