Security Operation in Northern Pakistan Results in Death of Nine Militants

Islamabad: A security operation in Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has resulted in the death of at least nine militants, including a high-value target, according to the military. The operation took place in the Bajaur district, which borders Afghanistan, and involved an intense exchange of fire. According to Kuwait News Agency, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of Pakistan's military, reported that the operation was intelligence-based and targeted a known militant location in the region. Among those killed were two suicide bombers and a ringleader identified as Said Muhammad alias. The military also recovered a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the site. The militants were reportedly involved in various terrorist activities against both security forces and civilians. The ISPR further stated that a sanitization operation is ongoing to ensure the complete elimination of any remaining threats in the area. The military reiterated its commitmen t to eradicating terrorism from Pakistan. This operation follows previous security actions earlier in the month, where four militants were killed in separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Bannu and North Waziristan districts. These operations come amid a rise in terror attacks, particularly in the KPK and Balochistan provinces, which share a border with Afghanistan.
