Settler Attack in Jalud Leaves Two Injured and Properties Destroyed

NABLUS: An attack by settlers on the village of Jalud, located south of Nablus in the northern West Bank, resulted in two citizens being injured and significant property damage, including the burning of three houses and a poultry farm, on Saturday evening. According to Maan News Agency, the Red Crescent in Nablus confirmed that two individuals sustained injuries and bruises to the face and head due to the assault by settlers. The injured were subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment. Raed Haj Muhammad, the head of the Jalud village council, reported that the settlers targeted the eastern side of the village, setting fire to residential properties, a poultry farm, and surrounding agricultural lands. He also noted that some residents were temporarily detained by the settlers, and families harvesting olives in the area were prevented from reaching their homes because of the blaze. In a broader context, since October 7, 2023, a total of 16,663 attacks have been carried out by occupation forces and s ettlers, resulting in the death of 19 citizens. The violence has also led to 275 fires affecting citizens' properties and fields, with Nablus governorate suffering the most with 120 fires, followed by Ramallah with 42 fires, and Jenin with 26, as reported by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.
