SILWAN: Settlers attacked residents in the Ras al-Amud neighborhood of Silwan, a town south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, on Friday evening, resulting in injuries and escalating tensions in the region. According to Maan News Agency, eyewitnesses reported that settlers aggressively confronted Palestinians in the neighborhood by randomly firing shots, physically assaulting them with rifle butts, and hurling insults. One young resident suffered a head injury after being struck with a gun. The witnesses claimed that police forces, who are a constant presence in the area, were seen protecting the settlers. The police reportedly pursued the local youths, threatening them with weapons to remove them from the area, while allegedly refraining from taking action against the settlers responsible for the attack. Further allegations were made that the police detained and interrogated the young men on the scene, adding to the community's grievances over perceived partiality in law enforcement in the area.
