Seven East Jerusalem Residents Indicted for Collaborating with Iran in Assassination Plot

Bethlehem: Seven residents of East Jerusalem have been indicted on charges of collaborating with Iran in a plot to assassinate a senior Israeli nuclear scientist. The charges, which include aiding the enemy during wartime, could result in life imprisonment or the death penalty. According to Maan News Agency, the indictment alleges that the main defendant, Rami Alian, was recruited by an Iranian agent in September. Alian reportedly performed various tasks for the agent, including gathering information on the targeted nuclear scientist. The communication between Alian and the Iranian agent was conducted through the messaging platform Telegram. The prosecutor's office claims that Alian purchased a weapon with the intention of carrying out the assassination of the scientist and his family. The defendants, aged between 19 and 23, face serious security charges in what authorities describe as an attempt to target a high-profile figure in Israel's nuclear program. The legal proceedings are expected to examine the e xtent of their involvement and the implications of their actions in the context of ongoing regional tensions.
