Sharjah’s Government Relations Department Strengthens Ties with ICESCO

RABAT: Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah's Department of Government Relations, met with Dr. Salim AlMalik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO), to discuss enhanced cooperation in education, science, and culture. The discussions aim to align both entities' visions and bolster shared initiatives. According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting took place during Sheikh Fahim's visit to ICESCO's headquarters in Rabat, Morocco. Dr. AlMalik expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, highlighting the emirate's significant contributions to cultural and scientific initiatives. A focal point of the discussions was the upcoming inauguration of ICESCO's regional office in Sharjah, envisioned as a central hub for knowledge and cultural exchange in the region. Sheikh Fahim conveyed greetings from the Ruler of Sharjah and emphasized that his visit was in accordance with His Highness's directives to enhance the partnership with ICESCO. This collaboration is seen as integral to advancing Sharjah's cultural and developmental projects. During the meeting, Dr. AlMalik outlined ICESCO's new strategic direction, which aims to position the organization as a leading global hub for knowledge and civilization by engaging member states to meet their specific needs and priorities. Subsequent to the initial meeting, Sheikh Fahim and Dr. AlMalik participated in an extended session with key officials, including Dr. Abdelilah Benarafa, Deputy Director-General of ICESCO, and Salem Omar Salem, Director of ICESCO's Regional office in Sharjah. The discussions explored potential joint projects and initiatives to be undertaken by both parties. Sheikh Fahim concluded his visit with a tour of an exhibition and museum dedicated to the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Islamic civilization, showcased at ICESCO headquarters in partnership with the Muslim World League and the Mohammadia League o f Scholars.
