The following are some of Egypt's political and humanitarian efforts during recent situation and developments in Sudan:
1- Egypt affirmed its keenness on the unity, security and territorial integrity of Sudan and the stability of its people, and the importance of reaching a lasting and comprehensive settlement to the conflict as soon as possible.
2- Egypt affirmed its rejection of external interference in Sudan’s internal affairs.
3- Egypt has provided all means for the evacuation of Egyptian, Sudanese, and other foreign nationals. More than seven thousand Egyptians were evacuated until 2/5/2023 and three thousand foreigners, in addition to thousands of Sudanese, with reference to the following:
A. The Armed Forces established an air bridge over the course of 4 days, including a total number of 27 warplanes, to evacuate citizens, and also provided 2 tons of foodstuffs to all nationals.
B. The General Directorate of Passports and Immigration has doubled number of employees at Argeen and Qastal ports to accommodate the huge number of people of various nationalities coming from Sudan, and to speed up all arrival procedures.
C. The Ministry of Health sent several mobile clinics to Argeen land port to provide medical services for sick people coming from Sudan, in addition to providing 8 ambulances to offer medical services and transferring critical cases to hospitals in Abu Simbel and Aswan.
D. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinates with regional and international organizations and all countries to provide aids for the evacuation, and to provide facilities for the evacuation of Sudanese citizens in various Egyptian ports, along with setting up an operations centre and several hotlines working 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist Egyptians looking to return to the country.
E. The Ministry of Transport provided Aswan Governorate with 4 trains to transport passengers (Aswan / Cairo), in addition to making 50 buses available to transport arrivals from the two ports (Qastal - Argeen) to the city of Aswan.
F. The Ministry of Transport has increased number of workers of the General Authority for Land and Dry Ports in each of the two land ports (Argeen and Qastal) to accommodate the estimated huge number of arrivals, in addition to increasing administrative and subsistence services (buffets - cafeterias...) to serve people in transit. Besides, the Transport Regulatory Authority provided buses to transport those coming from the ports of Argeen, and Qastal to Karkar station in the city of Aswan, in addition to providing means of transportation to Cairo for those who want to.
G. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has provided a number of cell phone lines for arrivals from Argeen land crossing to enable them to reassure their families.
H. The Egyptian Red Crescent provided, and continues to provide, emergency relief services on Egyptian-Sudanese border at Argeen and Qastal crossings, where medical examinations were conducted and first aids were given to hundreds, in addition to coordination with the Sudanese Red Crescent to overcome difficulties in evacuating those trapped in Sudan, and provision of bags of foodstuff and medical assistance for arrivals, where total number of bags reached 20995, as well as the provision of medical service in 2 equipped tents.
I. The Governor of Aswan issued Resolution No. (103) for the year 2023 to form a crisis management unit with the membership of all executive authorities in the governorate, in order to provide support and assistance in containing repercussions of ongoing developments. He also afforded three 28-passenger minibuses of the governorate to transport returnees from Abara (ferry) stop in Abu Simbel to Karkar station in Aswan, in addition to the provision of logistical supplies (dry food - water - juices) at all outlets, and the establishment of umbrellas outside the outlets for citizens awaiting the completion of procedures.
4- Several countries thanked Egypt for its efforts in transporting its nationals, among them Italy, Britain, Nigeria, Cameroon, Philippines, and Britain.
