Beirut: House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Wednesday addressed the Lebanese people following the announcement of a ceasefire, marking the end of 14 months of Israeli aggression. Berri began by honoring the memory of the martyr leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and all those who sacrificed their lives for Lebanon, including fighters from the Amal Movement, Hezbollah, the Lebanese Army, and over 4,000 civilians, mostly women, children, and the elderly. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Berri emphasized that the resilience and solidarity of the Lebanese people thwarted the objectives of the aggression. Moreover, the House Speaker urged the nation to remain guided by the sacrifices made, preserving the values and unity that have safeguarded Lebanon through this ordeal. Berri further appealed to all Lebanese to prioritize national unity and responsibility over divisions. 'This is not a moment for blame, nor for dancing on the wounds of others, but a time to protect Lebanon and rebuild it stronger,' he said . Berri highlighted the importance of electing a unifying president, reviving constitutional institutions, and ensuring Lebanon's sovereignty over all its land, sea, and borders. He also expressed gratitude to Lebanese families and municipalities who welcomed displaced people, as well as to the countries and international organizations that supported Lebanon during the crisis. Finally, Speaker Berri called on displaced residents to return to their lands, emphasizing their role in restoring life and prosperity to their villages. 'Your return will make the land stronger and prouder. Even amidst the rubble, your presence is the foundation for Lebanon's revival,' the House Speaker affirmed, pledging support for reconstruction efforts. Berri concluded with a tribute to the patience and resilience of the Lebanese people, offering prayers for the martyrs and a swift recovery for the wounded.
