Beirut: The General Directorate of State Security announced on Tuesday that its Director General, Major General Edgar Lawandos, continued his field tours of the Directorate's units, visiting the Beirut Port office to review key files under investigation. These investigations particularly focus on recovering funds for the public treasury following State Security's intervention in cases of public fund waste by certain companies operating at the port, which have been referred onto the proper legal track.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, during his visit, Major General Lawandos met with officers and personnel, commending their performance and sense of responsibility. He affirmed that State Security members are "the eyes of the state at the port" and stressed that the Directorate's leadership supports them in pursuing cases to their legal conclusion, always within the framework of the law.
On the same occasion, Major General Lawandos visited the new Chairman of the Board and Director General of Beirut Port, Marwan Al-Naffi, congratulating him on assuming his duties. Discussions centered around the port's general situation and explored ways to strengthen coordination and cooperation, emphasizing the enforcement of the law, prevention of violations, and protection of public funds.
