Stoltenberg says NATO summit to address terrorism threat

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg Thursday said that NATO Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, in July would be an opportunity to address "continued threat of terrorism and instability in the South.

"We see Russia's destabilising actions in Africa, and how Russia and China are making in-roads in the region," he told a press conference in Lisbon after holding talks with Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa.

"And we must do more to build defence capacity with key partners in the South, such as Tunisia, Mauritania and Jordan," he said.

"Today, our security environment is more dangerous than it has been since the Cold War," emphasized the NATO chief.

He thanked Portugal for its support to Ukraine, including the delivery of Leopard 2 tanks and contribution through NATO's Comprehensive Assistance Package.
