Syrian and Danish Foreign Ministers Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations


Damascus: Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani met in Damascus today with his Danish counterpart, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, and his accompanying delegation. Talks during the meeting touched on issues of common interest and ways to strengthen bilateral relations.



According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the discussions included the condemnation of Israeli attacks by Syria, with al-Shaibani describing them as violations of international law and the UN Charter. He urged the international community and the Arab League to take responsibility to halt the Israeli aggression against Syria.



Al-Shaibani also mentioned plans to establish a Syrian-Danish Business Council aimed at overseeing and enhancing economic relations between the two countries. The meeting also addressed the issue of Syrian refugees, emphasizing mechanisms to facilitate their return.



Danish Foreign Minister Rasmussen expressed a desire to move from partnership to full support with Damascus, highlighting Denmark’s financial aid to the Syrian people and expressing readiness to increase this assistance.
