Sharjah: The Tanweer Festival 2024, themed "Timeless Echoes of Love and Light," promises an immersive cultural gathering in the UAE from 22nd to 24th November. Inspired by the legacy of Jalal al-Din Al Rumi, the festival invites global audiences to partake in shared expressions of music, art, poetry, and cultural exchange in the Mleiha Desert, Sharjah. According to Emirates News Agency, the event will span three days, featuring artistic and cultural activities with over 100 musicians from more than 15 countries. Performances will take place across four uniquely designed stages, complemented by ten workshops and immersive art installations. Renowned artists such as Sami Yusuf, Dhafer Youssef, Kamal Musallam, and Constantinople with Ghalia Benali will contribute to the festival's artistic atmosphere. The festival will offer ten workshops focusing on enhancing creative skills and understanding cultural traditions, from Sufi whirling to calligraphy lighting, led by experienced practitioners. Visitors can also e xplore art installations by visionary artists, including Karim + Elias, Ahmad Kattan, and Omar Al Gurg, providing reflective and inspirational experiences. The 'Nourish' culinary area will feature 12 vendors offering local and international dishes, reflecting the festival's ethos of cross-cultural connection through food. Additionally, the marketplace will host 14 local and international artisans, showcasing handcrafted items and sustainable goods that celebrate artistic traditions. For those interested in Mleiha's historical landscape, six activities are available, including guided tours of the Valley of the Caves, moon-gazing sessions, and paragliding over the desert. Accommodation options include luxury glamping and camping, along with facilities by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority at Al Badayer Retreat, Al Faya Retreat, and Moon Retreat. Tanweer Festival's zero-waste commitment highlights its dedication to sustainability. Founded by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the festival aim s to model environmentally responsible cultural events, integrating cultural celebration with environmental stewardship for a sustainable future.
