Beirut: Progressive Socialist Party leader, MP Teymour Joumblatt, on Tuesday called for restraint and dialogue in Syria's Sweida, following the announcement of a ceasefire in the region.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, in a post on his X account, Joumblatt emphasized the importance of all parties respecting the announced ceasefire in Sweida. He highlighted the need for efforts to focus on reaching a lasting political solution within the framework of the state. Joumblatt stressed that this is a critical time for wisdom, reason, and the preservation of life in the region.
Joumblatt further stated that the demands of the people of Sweida must be addressed, and existing agreements should be implemented to maintain security. He urged the state to assume its responsibilities and called upon Sweida's dignitaries to cooperate in achieving these goals to prevent renewed fighting.
