The Joint Committee for Refugees said: “The code of conduct issued by the (Ethics) Office of UNRWA violates the moral system of our people and is part of the moral and ethical decline of the international system, and it is against the customs, traditions and values of our Palestinian people.”
In a press statement, the Joint Committee called on “all UNRWA employees not to sign the fallen code of conduct.”
The committee called on the Commissioner-General of UNRWA to “immediately withdraw from circulating this code,” and called on the Secretary-General to “work hard to allocate a fixed budget to UNRWA to get out of the circles of pressure and blackmail.”
The Joint Committee for Refugees called on the members of the employees’ union to hold a press conference “to reject this code that is contrary to our religion, values, identity, heritage, customs and traditions.” It also called on the Ministry of Education to “restrain these malicious Zionist-American actions that the UNRWA administration tries to pass from time to time.”
