The Ministry of Interior organizes the final meeting with the United Nations Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture

The Palestinian Ministry of the Interior organized, on Wednesday, at the Ministry's headquarters in Ramallah, the final meeting with the United Nations Subcommittee on the Prevention of Torture, after completing its visit to the State of Palestine to hold an in-depth dialogue with Palestinian governmental bodies and evaluate the measures taken to protect people deprived of... Freedom from torture and ill-treatment.

This came with the participation of the Minister of Interior, Major General Ziad Hab Al-Rih, and the Minister of Justice, Dr. Muhammad Al-Shalalda, and Minister of Social Development Dr. Ahmed Majdalani, and Minister of Health Dr. Mai Al-Kaila, and Minister of Women’s Affairs, Dr. Amal Hamad, a number of directors of the security services and representatives of a number of national institutions, in the presence of the coordinator of the work of the government team for the Convention against Torture, Haitham Arar.

This visit included meetings with the highest levels of the state and the judicial, administrative and security bodies, in order to provide advice to the authorities regarding the establishment of the national mechanism for the prevention of torture, in addition to visiting detention facilities and following up on the mechanisms for the authorities’ implementation of their obligations to prevent torture and ill-treatment and provide appropriate detention conditions
