The Board of Directors of the National Union of Palestinian NGOs held a meeting at the Big Heart School – Qalqilya Governorate, during which it discussed several issues. The most important of which is the request of the Union’s member institutions to review the decision of the Council of Ministers issued on 9/11/2023 and bearing the number (09/221/18/M.W./M.A.), which stipulates restricting public service employees from joining volunteer work as members of the boards of directors of associations and bodies. Eligibility.
The statement added that the decision violates the provisions of the Basic Law, Article 26, which guarantees the Palestinian citizen the freedom to participate, as well as Law (1) of 2000 for charitable organizations and the executive regulations of 2003, which give freedom to join and participate in volunteer work without restrictions.
The Union called on the Prime Minister to reconsider the decision and cancel it, based on the need to enhance freedoms and social justice and activate volunteer work and solidarity. The Board of Directors confirmed that it will remain in session in order to follow up on the merits of this decision
