Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkiye has achieved remarkable progress in becoming the largest manufacturer of armed drones globally. The statement was made during a ceremony at the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) headquarters in Ankara, where the T625 Gokbey Helicopter was being showcased. According to Kuwait News Agency, President Erdogan highlighted that Turkiye now leads the world in the UAV market, with Turkish companies responsible for 65 percent of armed drone sales worldwide since 2018. He emphasized Turkiye's self-sufficiency in the defense sector, boasting over a thousand domestic defense projects and a project portfolio valued at USD 100 billion. Erdogan further addressed the nation's resilience against terrorism, referencing an attack on the TAI headquarters. He asserted that such incidents would not deter Turkiye's commitment to combating terrorism and that the country remains vigilant in addressing terrorist threats at their source.
