Turkish Minister or Transportation and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced on Wednesday that security alert was raised to the highest level on ships flying the country's flag in Lebanon's ports and off its coasts. In a statement, the minister said that these measures are due to the recent developments in Lebanon. Instructions were given to Turkish ships in Lebanon's ports or off its coast to raise security alert levels to the third level as of September 30, the minister explained. This level of security alert is the highest in the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS), he added. Turkish ships will be on alert against any security threats, and will tighten security measures throughout their docking in Lebanese ports. These measures also allow the captain's to deal with threats against the ship, tighten entry and exit into the ship, and restrict loading and unloading, or cancel these operations immediately.
