UAE Engages in Global Aviation Talks at ICAN2024 in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala lumpur: The United Arab Emirates, through the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), is actively participating in the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN2024) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event, which runs until October 25, is a key forum for international air transport negotiations, attracting aviation regulators, industry leaders, and stakeholders worldwide to discuss and enhance global aviation partnerships. According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE's presence at ICAN2024 underscores its commitment to developing a robust and sustainable air transport ecosystem. The UAE delegation, led by Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, includes representatives from local entities and national carriers. The delegates are engaging in bilateral meetings with representatives from 20 countries, focusing on strengthening international cooperation, discussing air transport agreements, and enhancing air connectivity. Al Suwaidi highlighted the s ignificance of the UAE's participation, emphasizing the country's dedication to fostering strong international aviation relations and enhancing bilateral air transport agreements with 189 countries. "We look forward to productive discussions and building on our strong partnerships with ICAO member states," he stated. The ICAN event serves as a unique platform for aviation authorities and industry stakeholders to negotiate bilateral agreements and collaborate on initiatives aimed at promoting a safer, more sustainable, and efficient aviation sector.
