Dubai: The UAE Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (UAE C4IR), in collaboration with the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), unveiled a comprehensive report today aimed at steering the creative industries through the complexities and prospects of artificial intelligence (AI). The report was introduced during the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils, organized jointly by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the UAE Government. According to Emirates News Agency, the report titled "Artificial Intelligence in Creative Industries: Guidelines for Development, Regulation and Use," serves as a critical resource for understanding and harnessing AI within the creative sectors. Launched in the presence of over 500 international experts from 80 countries, the document is set to influence the agenda of the upcoming WEF Annual Meeting in Davos in January 2025. The findings and guidelines provided in the report focus on ensuring AI integration is transparent, inclusive, and human-centric. It evaluates AI's i mpact across various creative domains, including art, music, and literature, and offers case studies demonstrating AI's role in enhancing human creativity. For instance, it features an artist who collaborates with AI that replicates her unique brush strokes, illustrating the potential symbiosis between human artists and technological tools. The discussion at the press conference following the launch emphasized the need for global standards to ensure AI's ethical use in creative endeavors. Abdulaziz Al Jaziri, Deputy CEO at DFF, highlighted the dual importance of these guidelines in fostering responsible AI outcomes and in maintaining Dubai's status as a leading hub for creative and technological advancement. 'This report is not just about the adoption of AI, but about shaping a future where technology complements and enhances human creativity,' Al Jaziri stated. He also stressed the commitment to leveraging Dubai's advanced infrastructure and foresight in technology applications as a means to empower the gl obal creative economy. The report also tackles the broader implications of AI, including the ethical, legal, and socioeconomic challenges it poses, advocating for a reevaluation of how creative integrity and human agency are protected in the digital age.
