Saida: A convoy belonging to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was targeted by a drone strike on Thursday while transporting newly-arrived peacekeepers through south Lebanon, near the city of Saida. The incident resulted in injuries to both peacekeepers and members of the Lebanese Army. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the drone strike occurred in the afternoon as the UNIFIL convoy was en route. Five peacekeepers sustained light injuries and received immediate medical attention from the Lebanese Red Cross at the scene. Despite their injuries, the peacekeepers are expected to continue to their assigned posts. Additionally, the Lebanese Army confirmed that three soldiers stationed at a nearby checkpoint were also injured in the incident. UNIFIL released a statement urging all involved parties to exercise caution and avoid actions that could endanger peacekeepers or civilians. The statement emphasized the importance of resolving differences through negotiation rather than violenc e.
