UNIFIL Peacekeepers Support Lebanese Army Inspection Amid Tensions

Beirut: UNIFIL Spokesperson Kandice Ardiel reported a recent operation involving peacekeepers and the Lebanese army in Yanouh. In a media statement on Saturday, Ardiel clarified that peacekeepers accompanied the Lebanese army to support an inspection. She emphasized that the peacekeepers did not enter any buildings during the operation and left the area after completing their activity.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, a subsequent development arose when UNIFIL was informed through the Mechanism about the Israeli Defense Forces' (IDF) intention to conduct a strike on Yanouh. UNIFIL promptly reminded the IDF that such actions would violate UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a cessation of hostilities and respect for Lebanese sovereignty.
