Tyre: This morning, the Italian CIMIC of the Western Sector of UNIFIL, in collaboration with Mr. Hassan Dabouk, the president of the unions of the municipalities of Tyre, organized a free medical visit session for the population displaced by the Blue Line. These displaced individuals, who have been residing at the Tyre university, received medical examinations and medicines from Italian doctors. Over one hundred women, men, and children, who have been away from their homes for nearly two years, benefited from this initiative.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, Gen David Colussi, Commander of Sector West, joined the unions of the municipalities of Tyre in donating school supplies to the mayors of five Blue Line villages: Al Duhayra, Yarin, Boustan, Marwahin, and Mazraat El Zalloutiye. The donation, which included backpacks, pencils, and notebooks, aims to support families in ensuring their children can attend school amidst rising prices. The event was attended by village mayors, Mr. Dabouk, and several representatives from the LAF, UNIFIL's key partner in fostering stability.
The efforts in health and education are vital to UNIFIL Sector Western's mission. Recently, the CIMIC of Sector West completed a donation of electronic equipment and stoves for winter to a school in Hannawija, aiding classes displaced from Ata Ash Shaab. The Italian Contingent is also distributing medicines and equipment to about ten healthcare facilities to support the most vulnerable populations.
UNIFIL remains committed to assisting the authorities of southern Lebanon and its people. Together with the LAF, UNIFIL continues to patrol south Lebanon daily, ensuring compliance with Resolution 1701.
