Gaza: The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, has criticized Israel for denying entry to the Gaza Strip for international journalists, describing it as a "ban on reporting the truth."
According to National news agency - Lebanon, Lazzarini expressed that the Israeli occupation authorities' restrictions on international journalists since the onset of the conflict are unparalleled in modern history. He emphasized that these actions essentially prohibit the reporting of the reality on the ground in Gaza.
In a statement posted on the X platform, Lazzarini remarked on the adverse effects of such restrictions, warning that these measures contribute to media misinformation, heighten polarization, and obscure the human aspects of the conflict. He urged for the removal of the ban on international media, advocating for journalists to report freely and support their Palestinian counterparts who continue their work under challenging conditions.
Lazzarini's comments underscore the significance of independent journalism in conflict zones and highlight the call for international media access to ensure accurate and comprehensive coverage of events in Gaza.
