US Envoy Urges Lebanese Leaders to Translate Words into Action on Hezbollah Arms

Beirut: The credibility of Lebanon's government "rests on its ability to match principle with practice," U.S. envoy Tom Barrack emphasized in a recent post on X, urging immediate action to address the country's armed group dilemma. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Barrack highlighted that, despite repeated assertions by Lebanese leaders that "the state has a monopoly on arms," Hezbollah's continued possession of weapons remains a significant hurdle. He stressed that as long as Hezbollah retains its arms, mere words will not suffice to address the issue. Barrack called upon both the Lebanese government and Hezbollah to "fully commit and act now" to prevent the Lebanese people from being stuck in a stagnant status quo. His comments underscore the urgent need for decisive action to resolve the ongoing challenges posed by armed groups within Lebanon.
