Cairo: Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, led the Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation at the Arab Youth and Sports Ministers' session at the Arab League headquarters in the Arab Republic of Egypt. Minister Tawfiqi reiterated Bahrain's commitment to supporting joint Arab efforts in youth and sports, underlining that youth are a cornerstone for development and the future. She noted that the meeting reflects Arab awareness of the need to unify efforts, integrate youth policies, and invest in youth capacities to build sustainable and innovative societies.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Youth Minister expressed Bahrain's pride in being named Arab Capital of Sports Culture for 2026. She said that this achievement resulted from the coordinated efforts led by the General Sports Authority (GSA) under the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the GSA, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee. This highlights the Authority's pivotal role in consolidating the Kingdom's position in Arab sports. She also expressed Bahrain's anticipation for its preparations to host the Arab Games in 2027.
The meeting covered key agenda items, including approving recommendations from the 46th session of the Arab Fund for Youth and Sports Activities, reviewing the Secretariat's report for sessions 48-49, adopting recommendations from the technical youth and sports committees, discussing support for the Argentine junior team in Gaza, holding elections for the Executive Office, forming advisory committees, and coordinating joint Arab youth and sports programmes.
