AL-MAKARY PRAISES THE LEBANESE-QATARI RELATIONS: I WISH THE MPS SENSED THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE SITUATION AND ELECTED A PRESIDENT

Caretaker Information Minister Ziad al-Makari said that the situation in Gaza affects Lebanon and the region.

‘I wish the representatives sensed the seriousness of what is happening in the region and rushed to save their country and elect a president so that Lebanon would not become a small detail in a big deal,” Al-Makary noted.

In an interview with Al-Sharq, the minister pointed out that the five-party committee, which includes Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United States, France, and Egypt, ‘made great efforts to fill the vacuum in the presidency and urge the Lebanese forces to elect a president.’

‘We acknowledge the role of the committee and its efforts, which we hope will be crowned with success, knowing that electing a president is the responsibility and duty of the Lebanese, but unfortunately they have failed to do so,” he went on.

Finally, he praised the Qatari-Lebanese relations, saying: ‘The relations between the two countries have developed and witnessed, over the past three decades, great developmen
t at various levels and fields, which made them strong, honest, and solid.’

GEAGEA: WE WILL CONTINUE OUR MOVES UNTIL THE LAST ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT LEAVES

Lebanese Forces Party Chief, Samir Geagea, stressed in a statement today that ‘the LF position on the issue of the illegal Syrian presence in Lebanon is a firm, principled and sovereign stance that does not change with a billion euros or tens of billions, and does not change with an international request or wish.”

He confirmed that this is a “legal matter that cannot continue on Lebanese soil and is not subject to discussion….The only thing that is up for discussion is assistance in their deportation, not assistance in keeping them in Lebanon.’

“After we detected that those who ruled and were in control for years failed to assume their responsibilities and did not take any practical step outside of political bidding, we began a series of actions on the ground with the municipalities, departments and ministries concerned, and we are continuing with everything we are doing until the last illegal immigrant leaves Lebanon,” Geagea asserted.

He concluded: ‘What we have started will not stop, neither with inte
rnational wishes nor with nations’ billions, because there is no priority higher than the Lebanese identity, Lebanese sovereignty, and Lebanese security.’

ARMY CHIEF DISCUSSES WITH LF DELEGATION DISPLACED SYRIANS’ DOSSIER

Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, received in his Yarzeh office today, MP Strida Geagea at the head of a delegation including MPs: Pierre Bou Assi, Fadi Karam, Razi Al-Hajj, Nazih Matta, Jihad Pakradouni and Saeed Al-Asmar, in addition to former MP Joseph Ishaq and the party’s security and military communications official, Imad Khoury.

Talks during the meeting centered on the issue of displaced Syrians because of its security, economic, and social repercussions on Lebanon.

The delegation briefed the Army Chief on ‘the absence of any legal basis, whether international or Lebanese, for the presence of the overwhelming majority of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, which requires them to be legally prosecuted and returned to their country.’

The delegation also focused on ‘the necessity of controlling the Lebanese-Syrian border to prevent the entry of more illegal refugees into Lebanon.’

It stressed that ‘the illegal Syrian presence threatens the security and safety of the Lebanese people and threatens general st
ability in Lebanon, so all state departments must strictly and carefully implement the laws to preserve general stability in the country and the safety of Lebanon.”

“As for the international community that helps Syrian refugees, it can help them in Syria and not in Lebanon, especially since there are many safe areas in Syria,” the LF delegation underlined.

BOU HABIB MEETS HIS DUTCH COUNTERPART WHO AFFIRMS, “WE WOULD LIKE TO RESOLVE THE CRISIS, REACH AN IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE

Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdallah Bou Habib, received today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Hanke Bruins Slot, with talks touching on the prevailing situation and latest developments.

After the meeting, Bou Habib welcomed the Dutch Minister, ‘especially since the Netherlands supported and provided a lot to Lebanon, particularly after the port explosion in which it lost many lives.”

For her part, the Dutch Minister said: ‘This is the first visit to Lebanon, and although we spoke several times before my arrival, my presence here allowed us to discuss many topics,’ adding, ‘The Netherlands is committed to the relationship with Lebanon. We spoke about the importance of stability in the East.”

She went on: ‘We would like to resolve the crisis and reach a quick agreement regarding the current negotiation, and thus an immediate ceasefire, the return of the prisoners, and for the agreement to be a foundation upon which a lasting peace can later be built.’

The Dutch
Foreign Minister added that they highlighted “the importance of immediately halting the deteriorating situation on the southern Lebanese border between Israel and Lebanon.”

She said: “The Netherlands is concerned about the escalation of the conflict and regrets the loss of civilian lives because of its negative impact on Lebanon and the region. It is extremely important that we avoid expanding the cycle of violence.”

Slot continued: “We ask for a diplomatic solution and count on France’s efforts, but Lebanon also plays a role and Resolution 1701 must be adopted as a basis for lasting peace. We urge both sides, including Hezbollah, to contribute to implementing Resolution 1701 through field action, and also to support the Lebanese army.’

She added: “I have great appreciation for Lebanon, for despite the great burden it bears, it is hosting the largest number of displaced Syrians, and I understand that this has a huge impact on Lebanon and its people.”

“The Netherlands supports the Lebanese army, which work
s to strengthen stability. We also support rebuilding the private sector in Lebanon, which contributes to the development of the country, in cooperation with the European Union. The Netherlands has allocated an amount of 140 million euros for the next four years,’ Slot affirmed.

The Dutch Minister concluded: ‘As we open the new embassy headquarters, we are still demanding answers about holding those responsible for the port explosion accountable.’

‘ISRAEL’ MAKES MOVE ON RAFAH, FORCED DISPLACEMENT COMMENCES

The Israeli occupation forces officially began, on Monday, the forceful displacement of the already-displaced Palestinian people currently seeking shelter in Rafah, which had been designated by the Israelis as an alleged “safe zone” early in the war.

With flyers dropping from the skies, SMS, and social media broadcasts, the Israeli occupation’s action on Rafah is set to be yet another episode of this live-streamed genocide.

According to Israeli spokesperson Avichay Adrai, the IOF has allegedly expanded the alleged “humanitarian zone” in the Mawasi area and is forcing Palestinians out of eastern Rafah, which was allegedly the initial “safe zone”.

The action being taken by the Israeli occupation would forcefully displace at least 100,000 of the 1.4 millionPalestinians currently displaced in Rafah. It would also threaten to hold all remaining Palestinians in Gaza hostage, as the Rafah border crossing will likely be targeted through bombardments.

After 7 months of the televised genocide, the number of Palesti
nian martyrs, wounded, and missing has exceeded 100,000 Palestinians.
