Sharjah: In a significant initiative coinciding with Arab Document Day on October 17, The Documents House in Sharjah has launched the "Documents are a Trust" campaign. This new initiative is designed to highlight the critical role documents play in preserving the historical narratives of nations and communities. According to Emirates News Agency, the campaign aims to enhance the understanding of the Archives' role in safeguarding government documents through the establishment of a comprehensive management system for Sharjah's government entities. It is also focused on emphasizing the importance of documenting and safeguarding historical facts and events to ensure their accuracy and immutability. His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah's statement, "A document is the cornerstone upon which future generations will rely to preserve their identity and refute any falsification or theft of their past and present," underscores the campaign's goals. The initiative invites community members to contribute by submitting the ir documents or copies to enhance the emirate's archival resources. Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the House, expressed that the campaign stems from a deep belief in the essential role of documents in protecting the history of the emirate. He noted that documents are more than just records; they represent a trust that must be safeguarded for future generations. The campaign will be hosted at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah for two days, on October 14th and 15th. It will feature exhibitions and workshops focused on document restoration and preservation. Additionally, a photographic exhibition named "The First in Sharjah" will be showcased, highlighting the early stages of the emirate's development.
