UAE and WEF Conclude Annual Meeting of Global Future Councils, Highlighting Collaboration and Future Trends

Dubai: The UAE Government and the World Economic Forum (WEF) wrapped up the Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils 2024 (AMGFC24) in Dubai, a significant event that brought together 700 leaders and experts from around the world to discuss future trends and global challenges. The three-day conference, held from October 15 to 17, focused on fostering international partnerships and setting the groundwork for addressing macro trends across various sectors. According to Emirates News Agency, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Co-Chair of the Global Future Councils, emphasized the UAE's role as a global hub for shaping future trends and its commitment to international cooperation. Al Gergawi highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in designing a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future, stating that the meeting served as a platform to share knowledge and integrate ideas across different regions and sectors. AMGFC24 featured discussions on five key areas: technology and artificial intelligence, environment and climate, governance, economy and finance, and society. These discussions aimed to prepare for future challenges and opportunities, with a significant focus on the impact of artificial intelligence on the workforce and the development of global standards to govern AI technologies. The outcomes of the meeting are expected to influence the agenda of the 2025 WEF Annual Meeting in Davos, particularly in terms of AI policy and future workforce preparation. The conference also addressed other critical issues such as antimicrobial resistance, cybersecurity, food and water security, and sustainable tourism, among others. The Global Future Councils, since their inception in 2008, have hosted over 12,000 participants from 100 countries in more than 900 councils, establishing themselves as a leading network for global thought leadership and problem-solving.
