Beirut: Lebanese Forces Party Chief Samir Geagea congratulated today the government and security forces on launching the mayoral and municipal elections in Mount Lebanon this Sunday. He stated, "Among the signs and indicators that Lebanon has entered a new phase is its commitment to holding the elections on time with no postponement...demonstrating seriousness and respect for people's right to expression and change."
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Geagea expressed his appreciation for the government's determination to proceed with the municipal and mayoral elections as scheduled. He highlighted the importance of the operational and logistical preparations completed for this process. He encouraged those contesting in the elections to participate fully, emphasizing that active participation can lead to improvements and advancements in their communities, impacting progress and living standards.
Geagea also expressed his hope that all Lebanese citizens will view the municipal and mayoral elections as a democratic celebration. He urged that the elections should be conducted in a spirit of sportsmanship, not as a means of settling scores, but as an opportunity to enhance the development within cities and towns.
He acknowledged the role of security forces in ensuring the safety of the electoral process and extended his gratitude to Interior Minister, Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Hajjar, for his efforts in preparing for the municipal elections. Geagea commended Al-Hajjar's dedication to completing the necessary arrangements to ensure the successful execution of the elections.
