Raggi and UN’s Plasschaert Discuss Developments in Southern Lebanon and UNIFIL Mandate

Beirut: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Youssef Raggi, met with UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, to discuss developments in southern Lebanon and the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the discussions centered on efforts to encourage Israel to abide by its commitments under the cessation of hostilities declaration. The talks addressed the need for Israel to halt violations and end its occupation of Lebanese territory. Plasschaert provided Minister Raggi with insights from her recent visit to Israel, focusing on these critical issues.

The meeting also emphasized the ongoing cooperation between Lebanon and UNIFIL. Both parties highlighted the importance of enabling the peacekeeping force to fully execute its mandate in southern Lebanon. The renewal of UNIFIL's mandate is anticipated in August, underscoring the significance of international cooperation in maintaining regional stability.
