Baabda: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Friday received former President Michel Sleiman at Baabda Palace, where they conducted a comprehensive review of the latest developments on local, regional, and international fronts.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Sleiman emphasized the importance of insulating Lebanon from the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel, highlighting Lebanon's past experiences with regional conflicts. He underscored the need for a unified Lebanese stance during this critical period, prioritizing the country's supreme interest. The discussion also included a briefing on the visit by the US President's envoy, Thomas Barrack, and addressed Lebanon's social, economic, and daily living conditions with hopes for a peaceful tourist season.
Additionally, President Aoun engaged in talks with Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon, Ashraf Dabbour, who reported on the Palestinian situation and Israel's ongoing aggression in the Palestinian territories. Ambassador Dabbour reiterated the Palestinian leadership's respect for Lebanon's sovereignty and their commitment to cooperation and coordination with the Lebanese state.
In a separate meeting, President Aoun congratulated Miss Lebanon Nada Kousa, who was accompanied by Tourism Minister Laura Khazen Lahoud, for her recent achievements in the Miss World competition in India. Kousa qualified among the top 20 contestants and ranked fifth in the Miss Asia and Oceania category.
